One person dead after fireworks explosion causes fire at Los Angeles home

A tragic incident occurred in Los Angeles when a man lost his life due to a massive fire caused by commercial-grade fireworks at his home. The man’s wife, believed to be the victim’s wife, is currently hospitalized and in critical condition following the incident in the Pacoima neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley.
Emergency crews found the man and woman trapped in their home while evacuating residents in the area. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.
The fire, which was reported around 9 p.m. on Thursday, quickly spread to four homes and at least one car. It took over an hour for more than 130 firefighters to extinguish the flames. During the response, a gas leak was discovered in one of the homes, and the fire knocked down numerous power lines.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman David Ortiz described the chaotic scene, stating, “It was very chaotic. There were fireworks exploding, power lines down, and a large number of firefighters flooding into the area.” The situation was likened to a war zone, with fireworks raining down on the neighborhood.
Video footage from the scene showed multiple fireworks exploding, igniting a massive fire. Additionally, smaller fires were sparked by fireworks landing on the street.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of using commercial-grade fireworks in residential areas. Four other individuals and several animals were also injured in the fire, with one dog requiring emergency veterinary care.
