Simons opens the first Toronto store in Yorkdale. Can it succeed where Nordstrom failed?

La Maison Simons opened his first location in Toronto in Yorkdale Shopping Center and Chief Executive Bernard Leblanc on Thursday with the Larysa Harapyn of the Financial Post about how the company Bullish is despite the economic counterwind with which the retail trade is confronted.

The 185-year-old Quebec retailer was able to move to Yorkdale and a second location in the Eaton Center this fall because the American department store left Nordstrom Inc Canada and said it had been too difficult to make a profit in the market.

Simons will spend a combined $ 100 million on the two Toronto stores and Leblanc expects that they will increase the company’s annual turnover by 15 percent.
