Adam Schefter predicts ‘divorce’ of Micah Parsons and Dallas Cowboys

Micah Parsons Trade Drama: Is a Divorce Looming with the Dallas Cowboys?
Micah Parsons, the star edge rusher for the Dallas Cowboys, made headlines earlier this offseason when he expressed his desire to be traded from the team. Speculation has been rife ever since, with many wondering if owner Jerry Jones will make a move amid the ongoing contract dispute.
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter weighed in on the situation, predicting that a “divorce” between Parsons and the Cowboys is inevitable. Speaking on his podcast, “The Adam Schefter Podcast,” Schefter remarked, “I see these two sides headed toward divorce in time.”
Parsons has been present at the Cowboys’ training camp in Oxnard, California, but has been watching practices from the sidelines. Despite being seen alongside Jones, negotiations between Parsons’ representatives and the team’s front office have stalled.
Schefter noted the lack of progress in talks, stating, “You can’t get a deal done if you’re not even talking. And the two sides haven’t had any negotiations since last March or early April. It sounds like, at this point, it’s personal. It sounds like each side is dug in.”
Jones publicly stated that he has no intention of trading Parsons, despite the player’s trade request. Parsons, on the other hand, expressed his frustrations over the handling of contract discussions this offseason, leading to his desire to move on from the team.
As Schefter pointed out, deals have been reached in the past even after players publicly requested trades. However, he believes that the current situation with Parsons and the Cowboys is heading towards a breakup.
The star edge rusher is set to play this season on his fifth-year option, worth $24 million. The Cowboys also have the option to franchise tag Parsons for two more seasons if a long-term deal cannot be reached.
With the regular season fast approaching, the question remains: Will the Cowboys and Parsons find a resolution, or is a separation inevitable? Only time will tell as the drama unfolds in Dallas.
