A video capturing the arrest of Mexican national David Perez-Teofani in Washington D.C. for child sex crime charges has gone viral, sparking a frenzy on social media.
In the footage, Perez-Teofani is seen exiting his vehicle and attempting to flee from officers before being tackled to the ground. He can be heard yelling in Spanish as he is subdued.
The Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin revealed that Perez-Teofani had previously entered the country illegally three times, had a final order of removal, and was arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 13 in Fairfax County in January.
Reactions to the video varied widely on social media, with some expressing support for law enforcement’s actions and others raising concerns about the use of force.
Actor Dean Cain, who recently announced his affiliation with ICE, commented on the video, stating, “Turns out he IS a criminal…”
White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson defended Perez-Teofani’s arrest, emphasizing his criminal history and illegal status in the country.
Attorney General Pam Bondi shared on Twitter that a total of 630 arrests and 86 illegal guns have been seized in DC, with a significant number of the arrests being immigration-related since the federal takeover.
Despite differing opinions on the video, it has sparked a larger conversation about immigration enforcement and public safety in Washington D.C.
