Canada’s Mitton finishes 2nd in women’s shot put at Diamond League event in Brussels

Canadian shot put star Sarah Mitton finished in second place at the Diamond League track and field event in Brussels, with American Chase Jackson taking the top spot with a meet-record throw of 20.90 metres. Mitton, who had already secured her place in the upcoming Diamond League Final in Zurich, threw a distance of 19.89m.

Hailing from Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, Mitton currently ranks third in the standings, trailing behind world champion Jackson and Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands, who won silver at this year’s indoor world championships. Last September, Mitton claimed her first Diamond League Trophy, joining the ranks of previous winners such as Priscilla Lopes-Schliep, Dylan Armstrong, and Andre De Grasse.
