National Guard troops in Washington now authorized to carry weapons, Pentagon says

National Guard troops that have been deployed to Washington will now be equipped with weapons, as per the recent directive from the Pentagon.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseeth has given the order for this change, which was announced in a statement released on August 22 by the Department of Defense.
