A group of federal judges criticize Supreme Court for overturning decisions in favor of Trump administration

A recent report from NBC News has revealed that a group of anonymous federal judges are speaking out against the Supreme Court for consistently overturning lower court rulings that go against President Donald Trump’s administration. These judges, appointed by both Democratic and Republican presidents, have expressed concern over the lack of explanation provided by the high court when overturning these decisions.

According to NBC, the judges highlighted a pattern of emergency rulings from the Supreme Court that frequently side with the Trump administration and undermine the decisions made by lower courts. This trend has led to frustration among the federal judges, with many feeling as though the Supreme Court is not adequately supporting them in their rulings.

Ten out of the 12 judges interviewed by NBC argued that the Supreme Court should provide more transparency and justification when overturning lower court decisions. They believe that the emergency rulings imply incompetence on the part of the lower court judges, which is unfair and unjust.

One judge, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed their disappointment in the Supreme Court, stating, “It is inexcusable. They don’t have our backs.” The judge also revealed that they have received death threats for issuing rulings that counter the Trump administration’s agenda.

Trump administration’s response to unfavorable rulings

It’s no secret that President Trump and his top officials have been vocal in their criticism of judges who issue rulings against their agenda. When Judge James Boasberg attempted to block the administration’s deportation flights to El Salvador, Trump took to social media to suggest that he should be impeached. Similarly, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller referred to rulings blocking Trump’s tariff agenda as a “judicial coup.”

This ongoing criticism from top Trump officials has raised concerns among the federal judges, with one judge predicting that “somebody is going to die” if the attacks continue. Another judge lamented that lower courts are being “thrown under the bus” by the Supreme Court’s actions.

While some judges acknowledge that there have been instances of bias against Trump in certain rulings, they believe that the overall lack of support from the Supreme Court is troubling. “Certainly, there is a strong sense in the judiciary among the judges ruling on these cases that the court is leaving them out to dry,” one judge stated.

Despite these concerns, the Supreme Court has yet to publicly address the criticisms raised by the federal judges. The ongoing tension between the lower courts and the high court underscores the challenges faced by the judiciary in maintaining independence and upholding the rule of law.
