Biden seen with giant scar on head after skin cancer surgery

Former President Joe Biden Undergoes Surgery for Skin Cancer

Former President Joe Biden recently underwent surgery to treat skin cancer, following the emergence of worrying photos and videos showing the 82-year-old with a large wound on his head. Biden’s spokesperson confirmed that he had Mohs surgery, a procedure commonly used to treat skin cancer, although the specific type of skin cancer he had is unknown.

Video footage from Inside Edition captured Biden leaving a church in Rehoboth Beach over Labor Day weekend with the visible wound on his head. In the video, Biden appeared frail as he greeted people outside the service.

Just a day before the church appearance, Biden was spotted at a local ice cream shop wearing a baseball cap to cover the wound on his head. In late August, he attended the funeral of former Delaware governor and U.S. Representative Mike Castle with a large bandage covering the wound.

Mohs surgery involves removing thin layers of cancerous tissue and examining them until all abnormal cells are eliminated. Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, underwent the same procedure in 2023 to remove multiple lesions, including one above her right eye.

Biden’s Ongoing Health Struggles

These recent developments add to Biden’s history of health issues. Earlier this year, he was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. Despite the challenges, Biden remains optimistic, stating on social media, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places.”

In addition to his recent surgery, Biden had a basal cell carcinoma removed from his chest in 2023 and has been undergoing ongoing care since. Doctors classified his prostate cancer as highly aggressive, giving it a Gleason score of 9 and a Grade Group of 5—the most severe rating.
