Riders victorious over Bombers in annual Banjo Bowl

Brett Lauther’s Perfect Performance Leads Roughriders to Victory over Blue Bombers
On Saturday, Brett Lauther was the hero for the Saskatchewan Roughriders as he connected on all five field goal attempts to secure a 21-13 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Banjo Bowl.
Lauther’s Redemption
Coming into the game with a less than stellar field goal percentage, Lauther silenced his critics by making kicks from 20, 35 (twice), 41, and 33 yards. His flawless performance was instrumental in the Roughriders’ victory.
Roughriders Reach 10-Win Mark
With the win, the Roughriders improved their CFL-leading record to 10-2. This marks the first time they have reached the 10-win mark since 2019 when they finished with a 13-5 record.
Collaros Injury Shifts Momentum
The Blue Bombers held a 13-6 lead at halftime, but their fortunes changed when starting quarterback Zach Collaros left the game due to injury. Collaros was sacked by Saskatchewan’s C.J. Reavis, and despite a successful challenge by Winnipeg, the turnover was wiped out.
Streveler Steps In
After Collaros’ departure, Chris Streveler took over at quarterback for the Blue Bombers. However, he struggled, throwing two interceptions and completing only 5-of-9 passes for 39 yards.
Next Steps
The Roughriders will host the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday, Sept. 13, while the Blue Bombers will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday, Sept. 12.
