DOJ reportedly dismisses Gov Ron DeSantis Hope Florida scandal complaint

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is celebrating a recent development in the Hope Florida scandal, as the Department of Justice has reportedly decided to dismiss a complaint related to the controversy. The scandal, which rocked the former presidential candidate and became a topic of criticism for DeSantis, has now been put to rest.

According to a report by The Floridian, President Donald Trump’s DOJ looked into the controversy in late 2025 but ultimately found that there was no basis to pursue further action. A source within the agency stated that there was “no predicate to open up an intake on this” and that “no further action is anticipated.”

In response to the report, DeSantis issued an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital, calling the investigation a “witch hunt” orchestrated by left-wing media and their RINO allies. He emphasized that all actions taken by the agency were appropriate and legally sound.

“The Hope Florida initiative continues to be the most successful conservative anti-poverty initiative of any state in the country,” DeSantis added.

The controversy originated after Centene, a major health insurance company, agreed to return $67 million to Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration to settle allegations of overbilling Medicaid. $10 million of the recovered funds was directed to the Hope Florida Foundation, which then distributed the funds to two 501(c)(4) organizations.

Critics raised concerns about the funds being funneled into a political action committee for campaigning purposes, arguing that it was inappropriate given the source of the funds. Florida state Republican Rep. Alex Andrade previously raised questions about the involvement of James Uthmeier, DeSantis’ former chief of staff turned attorney general, in the movement of funds.

Despite the controversy, Trump’s DOJ reportedly dismissed the complaint, signaling a reset in the relationship between the former president and Governor DeSantis. The two had previously faced off in a heated GOP primary election for the White House.

As rumors swirl about Casey DeSantis potentially entering the race for Florida governor in 2026, Rep. Byron Donalds has already declared his candidacy and received an endorsement from Trump. The filing deadline for the governor’s race in Florida is June 12.

The decision by the DOJ to dismiss the complaint marks a significant development in the Hope Florida scandal, providing a sense of closure for Governor DeSantis and his administration.
