A 26-year-old man from Halifax was arrested early Saturday morning for aggravated assault following an argument in Shubenacadie, NS.

East Hants District RCMP and Emergency Health Services responded to a disturbance at a campground on Highway 215 around 2 a.m. AT.

When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old Dartmouth woman with life-threatening injuries.

“The woman’s injuries are consistent with aggravated assault,” said Cindy Bayers, a spokesperson for RCMP Nova Scotia. “At this point, no weapon appears to have been involved.”

The woman was taken to hospital and the man was arrested. He remains in custody.

According to a press release, four adults, including the victim and suspect, were staying in a motor home when an argument between the suspect and victim escalated.

“As the attack occurred early this morning, it is still in the early stages of the investigation,” Bayers said.
