Woman seriously hurt when being hit at Halifax crosswalk

HALIFAX, N.S. — Police in Halifax are investigating after a vehicle-pedestrian collision Sunday morning left a woman with life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Halifax Regional Police were called to a report of an injured pedestrian at the intersection of Gottingen and Charles streets in Halifax.

While walking across a marked crosswalk, a 23-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle travelling south on Gottingen Street, police said in a news release.

The woman was taken to hospital by EHS with life-threatening injuries.

A collision reconstructionist and the forensic identification section were called to the scene. Gottingen Street, between Uniacke North streets, was closed for several hours, reopening at 1 p.m.
