Religious leaders share prayers to ease stress ahead of election

The current election season has brought about a wave of anxiety and a feeling of loss of control for many Americans. In times of transition, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about the future. However, faith leaders from various traditions and backgrounds have shared their insights on how to find peace and put trust in God during these challenging times.

One such leader, Troy A. Miller, the president and CEO of National Religious Broadcasters, emphasized the importance of turning to specific Bible verses for comfort and guidance. He highlighted the passage from Philippians 4:6-7, which encourages believers to not be anxious about anything but to present their requests to God with thanksgiving. By seeking God’s will and trusting in His plan, one can find peace in all circumstances, including the outcome of the election.

Işık Abla, a senior pastor at Dream Church International, reiterated the importance of trusting in God’s sovereignty, even when outcomes are unclear. She referenced Romans 8:28, which reminds believers that God works for the good of those who love Him. In times of uncertainty, prayer can be a powerful tool to seek divine wisdom and find peace in God’s plan.

Pastor Jesse Bradley of Grace Community Church emphasized the unchanging nature of Jesus Christ, citing Hebrews 13:8. He reassured believers that nothing can separate them from the love of God, even in times of extreme anxiety and stress. The Gospel message of Jesus dying for our sins and rising from the grave remains constant, offering hope and assurance in times of transition.

In addition to sharing specific Bible verses, faith leaders also offered prayers for those struggling with anxiety during the election season. Pastor Bradley composed a prayer asking for God’s presence, compassion, wisdom, and courage in serving others. Rabbi Daniel Rowe of Aish penned a prayer focusing on the need for unity, understanding, and service to one another, regardless of differing viewpoints.

As we navigate through this challenging election season, it is essential to turn to faith for comfort, guidance, and peace. By trusting in God’s plan, seeking divine wisdom through prayer, and focusing on unity and service to others, we can find solace in the midst of uncertainty. Let us remember that God is in control, and our role is to serve Him and our fellow citizens with compassion and unity.
