US Election 2024

Somber Walz spotted on daughter’s Instagram after election loss: ‘Live to fight another day’

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was recently spotted on his daughter’s Instagram page, appearing somber in a photo with his cat. This comes shortly after he and Vice President Kamala Harris were defeated by President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance in Tuesday’s election. Walz’s daughter, Hope, posted the photo along with a message that read, “The Earth keeps spinning and we live to fight another day.”

The video on Hope’s Instagram story is the first glimpse of Walz since he attended Harris’ concession speech at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Walz also posted on X this week, thanking Vice President Harris for choosing him as her running mate and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to campaign alongside her.

However, Harris faced criticism, even from within her own party, for selecting Walz as her vice presidential candidate. Many felt that Walz, who is perceived as more left-leaning than Harris, was not the most practical choice. Some Democrats suggested that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a more moderate option, would have been a better fit for the ticket.

Walz was heavily scrutinized during the campaign for issues such as his military service, ties to China, response to the George Floyd riots in 2020, and his radical policy agenda as governor of Minnesota. Critics described his policies as extreme and questioned his honesty.

The decision to add Walz to the ticket was seen as a significant error in judgment by some. Rob Bluey, president of The Daily Signal, noted that vice presidents typically have little impact on a candidate’s fate, but in Walz’s case, it proved to be a disastrous choice that doomed Harris from the start.

Overall, the selection of Walz as the vice presidential candidate was just one of many missteps that contributed to Harris’ defeat. Some within the Democratic Party believe that the leadership is too hesitant to push back against the hard-left progressive wing, leading to decisions like choosing Walz over more moderate options like Shapiro.

In the aftermath of the election, the blame game has begun, with supporters and analysts dissecting the failures of the campaign. It remains to be seen how the Democratic Party will regroup and move forward in the wake of this crushing loss.
