Military veterans are the focus as celebrity chef suggests ways to reach out

Veterans Day is a time to honor and support those who have served our country, and celebrity chef Robert Irvine is leading the charge in providing assistance to veterans in need. Through his Robert Irvine Foundation, Irvine is making a difference in the lives of military servicemembers by offering support and resources for those struggling with the aftermath of combat.

Irvine, who served in the U.K.’s Royal Navy as a chef, understands the importance of physical and mental health for veterans. His foundation has organized events such as Breaking Bread With Heroes, where meals are served to veterans and their families, as well as providing mobility devices and service dogs to those in need. Additionally, the foundation hosts charity golf tournaments and fundraising events like Beats N’ Eats to raise funds for their cause.

As Veterans Day approaches, Irvine is urging the community to get involved in supporting veterans in meaningful ways. Simply saying “thanks for your service” is not enough – Irvine suggests inviting a veteran to your home, cooking a meal for them, or getting involved in local organizations that support veterans. By actively engaging with veterans and integrating them into the community, Irvine believes we can help reduce the alarming rate of suicide among veterans.

According to the U.S. Dept. of Veteran Affairs, suicide was the second-leading cause of death among veterans under age 45 in 2021. Irvine stresses the importance of educating children about the military and the sacrifices made by servicemembers. He also encourages everyone to exercise their right to vote, emphasizing the importance of freedom and democracy.
