Conan O’Brien to Host the 2022 Academy Awards

After a successful turn by Jimmy Kimmel last year, the Academy Awards has chosen another beloved TV comedian to host their prestigious event – Conan O’Brien.

“America has spoken, and now it’s official: Taco Bell’s Cheesy Chalupa Supreme is here. Oh, and I’ll be hosting the Oscars,” O’Brien announced in a statement on Friday.

While this will be O’Brien’s first time hosting the Oscars, he is certainly no stranger to the world of awards show hosting. He previously emceed the Emmy Awards in 2002 and 2006, as well as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 1995 and 2013.

The 2022 Oscars ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC on March 2nd, giving fans a chance to see O’Brien in a new light.

Known for his work on late-night talk shows such as Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, and Conan, O’Brien has cemented himself as a comedic force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry.

Prior to his hosting gigs, O’Brien made a name for himself as a writer on shows like Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons, showcasing his versatility and talent in the world of comedy.

O’Brien now joins the ranks of esteemed Oscar hosts such as Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, David Letterman, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Hugh Jackman, and Neil Patrick Harris.

“He adds to the legacy of comedy legends who have graced the Oscars stage, and we are thrilled to have him at the helm for this year’s show,” said Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group.
