Eagles’ Jalen Hurts gives curious answer about clearing concussion protocol in win over Commanders

The Philadelphia Eagles secured a 26-18 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday night, but the win did not come without some concern for star quarterback Jalen Hurts. During the game, Hurts took multiple hits to the head, prompting him to enter the medical tent for a concussion evaluation.

One of the most concerning hits came in the first half when defensive back Frankie Luvu sacked Hurts, causing his head to forcefully hit the turf. Despite the impact, Hurts was able to get up after a few moments on the ground. Later in the second quarter, while in the red zone, Hurts was taken down by two defenders, resulting in his helmet slamming face-first into the ground.

As a precaution, Hurts was evaluated for a concussion before halftime. Fortunately, he passed the test and did not miss any playing time. After the game, reporters asked Hurts about his condition, to which he simply responded, “I guess I beat the protocol.”

When questioned further about his surprise at being entered into the concussion protocol, Hurts stated, “It happens. Was I surprised? I don’t know.” Despite the hits, Hurts put up an impressive performance, completing 18 of 28 passes for 221 yards and rushing for 39 yards and a touchdown.

The Eagles’ victory was also fueled by running back Saquon Barkley, who rushed for 146 yards and scored two crucial touchdowns in the fourth quarter. With their sixth consecutive win, the Eagles now sit atop the NFC East and are being viewed as serious Super Bowl contenders.

Looking ahead, the Eagles will face the Los Angeles Rams on November 24, aiming to extend their winning streak. As the team continues their impressive run, fans can follow the latest updates on Fox News Digital’s sports coverage and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
