Two teens arrested in connection with robbery that left beloved DC DJ dead

In a tragic turn of events, two teenage boys have been arrested in connection with the brutal attack and robbery that led to the death of Bryan Smith, a well-known DJ and hairstylist in Washington, D.C. The suspects, aged 14 and 16, were apprehended by authorities on Thursday, although their identities have not been disclosed.

During a press briefing, Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith expressed her hope that the arrests would bring some measure of justice and closure to the family and friends of the victim. She emphasized that the police department is dedicated to holding individuals accountable for acts of violence in the city.

The incident unfolded in the early morning hours of October 27, when Bryan Smith, also known as “The Barber,” was attacked and robbed while walking home after finishing his shift. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying the suspects responsible for the heinous crime.

Smith was found severely injured and unconscious, with his phone, wallet, and credit cards stolen. Due to the lack of identification on his person, it took some time for authorities to establish his identity. Tragically, Smith succumbed to his injuries after spending more than a week in a coma, sparking outrage and grief in the community.

The suspects are also believed to be connected to a series of robbery attempts and assaults that occurred on the same day as Smith’s attack. The weapon used in the assault has yet to be recovered, but the investigation is ongoing.

Smith’s mother, Lela Sandoval, expressed her devastation over the senseless loss of her son, recounting his valiant fight for survival in the hospital. She condemned the perpetrators for taking away her “whole entire life” over a credit card with a minimal balance and a cell phone.
