Drake up for 8 Billboard Music Awards as Zach Bryan, Taylor Swift top finalists
The upcoming Billboard Music Awards are set to be a showdown between Canadian rapper Drake and pop sensation Taylor Swift, as they compete for the title of the most decorated artist of all time. The finalists for the awards were recently announced, with country artist Zach Bryan leading the pack with a whopping 21 entries across 18 categories. Following closely behind is Taylor Swift with 17 entries across 16 categories, while Drake is in the running for eight awards.
Taylor Swift and Drake are currently tied for the most wins in the history of the BBMAs, each boasting an impressive 39 trophies to their names. They also share the record for the most top artist wins, with three victories each. This year, they are once again nominated for the top artist award, alongside Zach Bryan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Morgan Wallen.
Speaking of Morgan Wallen, he has secured 15 entries in 13 categories, putting him in a strong position for multiple wins. Sabrina Carpenter follows closely behind with nine nominations, making her a contender to watch during the awards show.
In addition to Drake, other Canadians making waves at the BBMAs include The Weeknd and Tate McRae. The Weeknd is up for four awards, including top Billboard Global 200 artist and top R&B artist. Tate McRae, on the other hand, has three nominations for her hit song “Greedy.”
This year, the BBMAs have introduced three new awards categories for top hard rock album, top hard rock artist, and top hard rock song. Artists like HARDY, Falling in Reverse, and Linkin Park are all in the running for these new accolades.
After a streaming-only event last year, the Billboard Music Awards will return to Fox for the first time since 2006.
