Halifax developer tapped once again to lead N.S. Premier Tim Houston’s transition team

After securing a resounding victory in the provincial election, Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston wasted no time in assembling his transition team. Leading the charge is Scott McCrea, the CEO of Armour Group Ltd., a prominent Halifax developer who previously served in the same role after Houston’s party’s win in 2021.

Joining McCrea on the five-person team are Nicole LaFosse Parker, Houston’s chief of staff and lawyer, Tory campaign co-chairs Cameron MacKeen and Tara Miller, and Chris Lydon, president of m5 Public Affairs. Together, they will work to ensure a smooth transition as Houston prepares to form his new cabinet.

The news release announcing the transition team also hinted at an upcoming date for the swearing-in of the new PC cabinet, signaling that changes are on the horizon for the province.

In Tuesday’s general election, Houston’s Progressive Conservative party secured a second consecutive majority government. The party’s vote share grew, and they increased their seat count, with as of 2 p.m. AT on Wednesday, leading or elected in 43 seats. The NDP moved into second place to form the Official Opposition, while the Liberals were reduced to third place, leading or elected in just two seats. Notably, Liberal Leader Zach Churchill was defeated in his home district of Yarmouth.

Despite the celebratory mood following the election win, Houston’s focus quickly shifted to more pressing matters. He was scheduled to join a call with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the rest of Canada’s premiers to discuss U.S. president-elect Donald Trump’s threat of imposing tariffs on Canadian imports. This potential measure could have a significant impact on Nova Scotia’s exports, including seafood, tires, and forest products.

While it was expected that Houston would not speak with reporters before or after the meeting with the prime minister, the implications of Trump’s tariffs add a layer of urgency to the Premier’s agenda.

As the province looks towards a new era under Houston’s leadership, the transition team stands ready to facilitate a smooth and efficient transfer of power. With a mandate for change and a vision for the future, Nova Scotia is poised for a period of growth and progress under Premier Tim Houston’s leadership.
