Josh Allen makes NFL history as Bills clinch AFC East with win over 49ers in driving snow

Josh Allen, the star quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, showcased his talent and versatility in a remarkable performance against the San Francisco 49ers. Fresh off his engagement to pop star Hailee Steinfeld, Allen had to navigate through the challenging lake-effect snow that blanketed the Buffalo area over the holiday weekend.

In a dominant 35-10 victory over the 49ers, Allen left no doubt that he was in complete control of the game. He got the Bills on the board with a 7-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Mack Hollins before halftime, giving Buffalo a comfortable 21-3 lead. But Allen wasn’t done yet.

In the third quarter, Allen made history by catching a touchdown pass after a lateral from Amari Cooper, becoming the first NFL quarterback since the merger to throw, run, and catch a touchdown in a single game. Despite officially recording zero receptions, Allen finished with seven receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.

To cap off his stellar performance, Allen ran for an 8-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory for the Bills. Backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky took over in garbage time as Buffalo secured their fifth consecutive AFC East division title.

Allen finished the game with 148 passing yards, 13 completions, and 18 rushing yards. Running backs James Cook and Ray Davis also contributed to the scoring, with Cook breaking loose for a 65-yard touchdown run and Davis adding a 5-yard touchdown scamper. Cook totaled 107 rushing yards, while Davis added 59.

On the defensive side, the 49ers struggled to contain the Bills’ high-powered offense in the snowy conditions. San Francisco’s offense sputtered, with quarterback Brock Purdy managing only 94 passing yards and one touchdown. The team’s running game was hampered by the absence of Christian McCaffrey, who left the game with a knee injury in the first half.

With the win, the Bills extended their winning streak to seven games and improved to 10-2 on the season. Meanwhile, the 49ers fell to 5-7, facing an uphill battle to salvage their season.

Buffalo’s impressive performance on both sides of the ball solidified their status as a contender in the AFC. As they continue their quest for a deep playoff run, Josh Allen’s exceptional display against the 49ers will be remembered as a defining moment in his career.
