Cavs’ Jarrett Allen stuns fans with backward halfcourt shot before game

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been on fire to kick off the 2024-25 NBA season, and center Jarrett Allen made a statement with an incredible trick shot before Monday night’s game against the Utah Jazz.

The game was delayed due to a technical issue with one of the rims at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, giving Allen an opportunity to showcase his skills. The All-Star center decided to have some fun and keep himself warmed up by attempting a backward shot from halfcourt. To the amazement of everyone in the arena, he nailed the shot, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Allen has been a key player for the Cavaliers this season, averaging 13.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, one steal, and nearly one block per game. His defensive prowess was recognized last season when he received votes for Defensive Player of the Year.

Acquired from the Brooklyn Nets in the middle of the 2020-21 season as part of a trade involving James Harden, Allen is now in his fourth full season with the Cavs. His presence on the court has been instrumental in the team’s success this season.

Cleveland has been a bright spot in the NBA, starting the season with 15 consecutive wins and maintaining a strong performance despite a few losses. Heading into the game against Utah, the Cavaliers had only suffered one defeat in December, showcasing their dominance in the Eastern Conference.

Looking ahead, the Cavaliers are gearing up for a four-game road trip, starting with a matchup against the Denver Nuggets. With the postseason on the horizon, the team is focused on maintaining their momentum and securing a top spot in the conference standings.
