Israeli Minister for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, Amichai Chikli, spoke with Fox News Digital about the Trump administration’s commitment to combating the rise of antisemitism following the tragic massacre by Hamas on October 7, 2023. Chikli highlighted the upcoming appointment of former Rep. Elise Stefanik as the new U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, emphasizing her dedication to fighting antisemitism.
Stefanik, known for her strong stance against antisemitism, has pledged to address the issue at the U.N., which she described as a “den of antisemitism.” Chikli outlined four actionable measures to tackle antisemitism, including enforcing compliance with Title VI to prevent discrimination on campuses and revoking funding for institutions supporting antisemitic behavior.
One major focus of the administration’s efforts is shutting down the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which has been accused of promoting antisemitism through its educational system in Gaza and the West Bank. Chikli stressed the importance of closing UNRWA to prevent the indoctrination of Palestinian children with terrorist ideologies.
The Israeli government, along with international partners, is working to find alternatives to UNRWA as the organization faces a ban in Israel starting January 30. The move comes after evidence emerged linking UNRWA staff to the October 7 massacre. Israeli Opposition Leader Yair Lapid’s office is in discussions with the Trump administration to plan for the transition post-UNRWA.
Despite UNRWA’s claims of neutrality, reports have shown staff involvement in terrorist activities, leading to calls for the organization’s closure. Families affected by the October 7 attack, like Ayelet Samerano, are pushing for accountability and a replacement organization to support peace and development in Gaza.
Israeli Ambassador to the U.N., Danny Danon, expressed support for Stefanik’s appointment, praising her commitment to justice and truth. With a renewed focus on combating antisemitism and promoting peace, the Trump administration and its allies are determined to address the root causes of hatred and violence against the Jewish people.
