Integrated youth services site coming to Yarmouth

An Integrated Youth Services Site Coming to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

Exciting news for the youth of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia! The province has announced that a new integrated youth services site will be established in the southwestern town, offering a one-stop mental health and social services hub for young people aged 12 to 25.

This site will be the eighth of its kind in Nova Scotia, joining seven other integrated youth services sites across the province. It will provide a range of essential services including mental health and substance abuse support, employment and housing assistance, primary health care, and more.

The host site for this initiative will be BGC Yarmouth, previously known as the Boys and Girls Club. Services will be delivered by various community organizations under the oversight of the IWK Health Centre.

The government has committed $8.4 million in funding for these sites, with an additional $10 million contributed by philanthropic partners.

While some of the integrated youth services sites are set to open this spring, Yarmouth’s site is not among them. However, the Office of Addictions and Mental Health has stated that the Yarmouth site is expected to be operational “over the next few years.”
