US Election 2024

Key Sen. Todd Young comes out in support of Trump DNI nominee Tulsi Gabbard

Senator Todd Young, a Republican from Indiana, recently voiced his support for Tulsi Gabbard to be the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). This endorsement came just hours before a crucial committee vote that could determine Gabbard’s fate in the role.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Senator Young expressed his admiration for American intelligence officers and emphasized the importance of supporting them. He commended Gabbard for her engagement on various issues and her commitment to ensuring that intelligence professionals receive the necessary support while policymakers receive unbiased information under her leadership.

“I have done what the Framers envisioned for senators to do: use the consultative process to seek firm commitments, in this case commitments that will advance our national security, which is my top priority as a former Marine Corps intelligence officer. Having now secured these commitments, I will support Tulsi’s nomination and look forward to working with her to protect our national security,” Senator Young stated.

Gabbard’s nomination hinges on the support of all Republicans on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence to advance to the floor for a confirmation vote. This is contingent on not receiving any votes from Democrats, as no Democrats on the committee have endorsed her for the role.
