Mark Ingram declares Saquon Barkley the reason Eagles are back in Super Bowl LIX: ‘Special season’

The NFL has only seen four 2,000-yard rushing seasons since 2009, starting with Chris Johnson’s legendary year with the Tennessee Titans. Adrian Peterson followed suit in 2012 after a miraculous return from a torn ACL. Derrick Henry and almost-but-not-quite-with-the-ravens in 2024. However, the 2024 season belonged to Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles, a former Giants standout who has impressed even the likes of NFL legend Mark Ingram II.

Ingram, who was in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX, believes that Barkley’s impact on the Eagles in his first season with the team surpasses that of any other running back in recent memory. Barkley’s ability to excel in all aspects of the game, from running to catching to blocking, sets him apart as a complete back. His highlight-reel runs, speed, power, agility, and versatility have propelled the Eagles to new heights this season.

Barkley led the league in rushing with 2,005 yards and showcased his receiving skills with 33 receptions for 278 yards and two touchdowns through the air. His absence in the regular-season finale against his former team prevented him from potentially breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record. Still, his production has been instrumental in the Eagles’ success this season, leading them back to the Super Bowl after facing the Kansas City Chiefs two years ago.

As the Eagles prepare to take on the Chiefs once again, the spotlight will be on Barkley to see if he can be the difference-maker in the Big Game. With his exceptional skills and impact on the team, there is no denying that Barkley is a special talent in the NFL.

In addition to his on-field performance, Barkley’s success has also caught the attention of the American Gaming Association, with whom Mark Ingram II has partnered to promote responsible sports betting. Ingram emphasizes the importance of having a budget, betting legally, and respecting the players who are doing their best on the field. He discourages fans from harassing players over betting outcomes, reminding them that the players are focused on winning games, not meeting individual betting expectations.

As Super Bowl LIX approaches, all eyes will be on Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles as they aim to secure a championship against the Kansas City Chiefs. Whether Barkley can deliver a standout performance on the biggest stage remains to be seen, but one thing is certain – he has already proven himself as a top-tier running back in the NFL.
