Trump’s approval rating matches his all-time high, new poll finds

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has reached its highest level ever, with 54% of registered voters approving of his performance, according to a recent national NBC News poll. This matches his previous all-time high during his political career. Additionally, 44% of voters believe that the country is on the right track, another record high for the president.

Despite these high approval ratings, a majority of voters still disapprove of how Trump is handling the job, with 51% expressing their disapproval. The majority of Trump’s support comes from Republicans, with 90% approving of his performance compared to only 4% of Democrats.

The poll also revealed that Trump has the largest partisan divide in approval ratings between Republicans and Democrats in the past 80 years. Only 4% of Democrats approve of his performance, while 90% of Republicans do.

On the economic front, a majority of voters disapprove of how Trump is handling the economy, marking a first in NBC News poll history. Only 18% of voters consider the economy to be “excellent” or “good.” This sentiment is even more pronounced along party lines, with only 26% of Republicans viewing the economy positively compared to 11% of Democrats.

However, a majority of voters do approve of Trump’s handling of immigration and border security, with 55% endorsing his performance. The Trump administration has promised to crack down on illegal border crossings, with Trump touting the efforts as the most significant in American history.

The poll was conducted from March 7 to March 11 with a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points, surveying 1000 registered voters. Trump’s joint address to Congress emphasized his commitment to improving the economy and reducing prices, blaming former President Joe Biden for leaving behind an economic disaster. Consumer prices increased by roughly 20% under Biden’s administration, according to the consumer price index.
