Trump admin guts Institute of Peace of ‘rogue bureaucrats’ after DOGE standoff in government office

The Trump administration recently made headlines after a tense standoff with the Institute of Peace, where rogue bureaucrats refused entry to a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team, prompting police intervention. The White House spokesperson, Anna Kelly, stated that the administration will not allow rogue bureaucrats to hold agencies hostage and will ensure accountability to the American people.

The Institute of Peace, established in 1984 to promote peace and diplomacy on the international stage, was targeted by President Trump’s executive order to reduce the size of federal bureaucracy. Despite the order, the institute did not comply, leading to the removal of 11 out of 14 board members. The remaining board members, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, appointed Kenneth Jackson as the acting president after firing George Moose, the former CEO.

The situation escalated when Jackson and the DOGE team were denied entry to the Institute of Peace building in Washington, D.C. Former CEO George Moose accused them of illegal takeover and barricaded himself in his office after being fired. Police intervention was required for Jackson to gain access to the building, and Moose left without incident.

The incident at the Institute of Peace is seen as a prime example of rogue bureaucrats resisting change and oversight. The administration has faced similar challenges with other government agencies, such as the U.S. African Development Foundation, where another DOGE team was barred from entry by rogue bureaucrats.

The Trump administration’s efforts to streamline government operations and reduce bureaucracy have faced resistance from entrenched bureaucrats. The standoff at the Institute of Peace highlights the ongoing struggle to implement change in government agencies. President Trump was elected on a mandate to bring about change, and the administration is determined to enforce accountability and efficiency in all agencies.

The lawsuit filed by the Institute of Peace against the Trump administration calls for intervention to prevent the dismantling of the institute. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt condemned the actions of rogue bureaucrats, describing their behavior as unacceptable resistance to change.

The incident at the Institute of Peace is just one example of the challenges faced by the Trump administration in reforming government agencies. The administration remains committed to enforcing accountability and efficiency in all branches of government, despite resistance from rogue bureaucrats.
