Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti Upsets Felix Auger-Aliassime in Miami Open Third Round
Italian tennis player Lorenzo Musetti pulled off a stunning upset as he defeated Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets on Sunday at the Miami Open. The match, which took place in the men’s singles third-round, saw Musetti, seeded 15th, come from behind to secure the victory.
Auger-Aliassime, the 18th seed hailing from Montreal, started strong by winning the first set 6-4 after registering a crucial break. However, Musetti fought back fiercely and dominated the remaining two sets with scores of 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the next round.
Despite Auger-Aliassime’s impressive performance, hitting 11 aces compared to Musetti’s one, the Canadian also struggled with four double faults, while Musetti only had one. The Italian player capitalized on his opportunities, recording twice as many break points (four) as his opponent.
Looking ahead, Denis Shapovalov, the No. 27 seed from Richmond Hill, Ontario, is set to face third-seeded American Taylor Fritz in the third-round match scheduled for Monday.
