Fetterman gift silver-plated pager from Netanyahu

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pennsylvania, recently made headlines after receiving a unique gift from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a visit to Jerusalem. The gift in question was a silver-plated beeper, commemorating Israel’s covert operation in which they detonated pagers worn by Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon.

Fetterman, known for his vocal support of Israel, has often found himself at odds with the Democratic Party’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He has been critical of Hamas, the Palestinian terror group, and has demanded the release of all hostages taken by the group in a recent attack.

During his visit to Netanyahu’s office, Fetterman reaffirmed his unwavering support for Israel, stating, “Hamas does not want peace. I unapologetically, 100% stand with Israel, and demand the release of all remaining hostages.” He also presented Netanyahu with a framed news article about an effort to memorialize Netanyahu’s brother, Yoni Netanyahu, a fallen Israeli soldier who is considered a hero in Israel.

In return, Netanyahu presented Fetterman with the silver-plated beeper, jokingly stating, “What can I give a man who has everything? How about giving him a beeper? This is a silver-plated beeper. The real beeper is, like, one-tenth the weight. It’s nothing, but it changes history.”

The beeper references Israel’s September 2024 operation in Lebanon, where they detonated pagers used by Hezbollah members, leading to the deaths of dozens. Fetterman expressed his admiration for the operation, stating, “When that story broke, I was like, ‘Oh, I love it, I love it.’ And now, it’s like, thank you for this.”

This exchange of gifts between Fetterman and Netanyahu highlights the strong bond between the United States and Israel, as well as Fetterman’s unwavering support for the Jewish state. Netanyahu’s gesture of gifting Fetterman the silver-plated beeper serves as a symbol of their shared values and commitment to combating terrorism.

In a similar vein, Netanyahu had previously gifted a gold-plated pager to former President Donald Trump in February, further solidifying the strong relationship between Israel and the United States. The exchange of these unique gifts underscores the importance of international alliances in the fight against terrorism and the promotion of peace and security in the region.
