All eyes on Russia-Ukraine as Trump kicks off fourth week back in the Oval Office

President Donald Trump and his administration are gearing up for another busy week as negotiations to end the Russia-Ukraine war kick off. Trump has dispatched a team of U.S. officials to Saudi Arabia to begin discussions on a potential peace agreement between the warring nations. Special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, along with National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are set to travel to Saudi Arabia to engage in talks aimed at bringing an end to the conflict.
The decision to hold the peace meetings in Saudi Arabia comes after Trump announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to start peace talks. Trump expressed his commitment to ending the “horrible” and “vicious” war that has been raging since 2022. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalated when Russia invaded its neighboring country.
While on the 2024 campaign trail, Trump had promised to end the war if re-elected, blaming the conflict on the previous administration. Now, he is taking concrete steps to fulfill that promise by sending his top officials to facilitate negotiations in Saudi Arabia.
Witkoff revealed that the peace talks are being held at the direction of the president, emphasizing Trump’s personal involvement in the process. The goal is to make significant progress in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict through diplomatic means.
In addition to the peace negotiations, Trump’s schedule for the week includes a potential meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House. The meeting, requested by Starmer, is expected to focus on bilateral issues and strengthening ties between the two nations.
On the economic front, Trump announced a reciprocal tariff plan that will impose fair and reciprocal tariffs on major U.S. trading partners. The move is aimed at ensuring a level playing field in international trade and protecting American interests.
Furthermore, Trump established the National Energy Dominance Council to bolster energy independence and utilize the country’s vast energy resources. The council is set to take swift action to make the U.S. energy dominant, with plans for significant developments in the coming weeks.
As Trump enters his fourth week in office, he has already signed numerous executive orders and implemented key policy initiatives. His proactive approach to international diplomacy and economic policy highlights his commitment to delivering on his campaign promises and prioritizing the interests of the American people.
