Amherst man accused of shooting someone in the head with a BB gun

AMHERST, N.S. — Police in Amherst have charged a 26-year-old man with assault following a reported injury from a BB gun on Feb. 1.

Early on Feb. 2, police were alerted of someone seeking treatment after allegedly being shot in the head with a BB gun pellet. Police learned the incident occurred during an altercation between several parties several hours earlier.

On Feb. 2, the Amherst Police Department arrested Dylan Owen Smith on charges of aggravated assault, uttering threats, damage to property, assault with a weapon and several other weapons-related offences.

He was released after an overnight stay and is scheduled to return to court on March 11.
