At this Texas school, AI is the teacher

At a time when many American students are struggling to keep up, a private school in Texas is revolutionizing education by doing more with less. Alpha School, located in Texas, has implemented a unique approach to learning that has garnered impressive results. Students at Alpha spend just two hours a day in class, guided by an Artificial Intelligence (AI) tutor. Despite the minimal time spent on academics, students at Alpha are testing in the top 1 to 2% nationally.
Co-founder MacKenzie Price, a Stanford-educated psychologist, explained that Alpha School utilizes AI tutors and adaptive apps to provide a personalized learning experience for each student. This innovative approach allows students to learn faster and more effectively than traditional methods. In fact, Alpha’s classes are ranked in the top 2% in the country.
After the short morning academic block, the remainder of the school day at Alpha is dedicated to building real-world skills such as public speaking, teamwork, and financial literacy. This holistic approach to education aims to prepare students for success beyond the classroom.
Elle Kristine, a junior at Alpha School, shared her positive experience with the school during an interview on Fox & Friends. She emphasized the contrast between her experience at Alpha and that of her friends in traditional schools, who often feel overwhelmed and stressed by the workload. Kristine highlighted the freedom and opportunity she has at Alpha to pursue passion projects, such as creating a safe AI dating coach for teenagers.
Alpha School currently operates campuses in Austin, Brownsville, and Miami, serving students from Pre-K through high school. With small class sizes and a focus on personalized learning, Alpha provides a unique educational experience for each student. Instead of traditional teachers, Alpha employs guides who offer coaching and emotional support, while AI handles academic instruction.
Due to its success and growing demand, Alpha School is expanding nationwide. The school has announced plans to open seven new campuses by Fall 2025 in locations such as Houston, Fort Worth, Orlando, Tampa, Phoenix, Santa Barbara, and New York City. Tuition varies by location, with the average cost ranging from $40,000 to $50,000 annually.
The rise of schools like Alpha comes at a time when school choice is gaining momentum in the United States. The Trump administration has shown support for school choice programs, allowing parents more control over their children’s education. This shift in policy aligns with Alpha’s mission to provide innovative and accessible education options for students.
As Alpha School continues to expand and innovate, it is setting a new standard for education in the United States. By combining AI technology with personalized learning experiences, Alpha is preparing students for success in the 21st century. The school’s approach to education serves as a model for the future of learning, emphasizing creativity, collaboration, and real-world skills.
