Bear tries to escape home after stealing pork chops

A bear who got trapped in a house in Steamboat Springs, Colo., after stealing chops had to use its best climbing skills when it tried to escape earlier this month.

A neighbor overheard the bear’s attempt to escape from a second-story window.

The bear reportedly entered the house by breaking a downstairs window. The animal then helped itself to some chops left on a counter and snacks in the pantry, before wandering into the house and making its way to the master bedroom upstairs.

The bear eventually escaped the house through the same downstairs window that he ripped open to break in.

Human-bear interactions have increased in recent years according to Colorado Parks and Wildliferecalling that black bears are “curious, intelligent and highly resourceful; they will explore all possible food sources” and that humans bear resistant their houses.
