Americans rate Trump’s cabinet picks in new poll

A recent Fox News poll revealed that a majority of American voters are hopeful about the re-election of President-elect Donald Trump. However, there is a divide among voters when it comes to Trump’s top nominees for his upcoming second administration.
According to the poll conducted from Dec. 6-9, 54% of respondents expressed hopefulness about Trump’s election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. When it comes to Trump’s cabinet selections, 47% of those polled approved, while 50% disapproved. This sentiment was mirrored when respondents were asked about billionaire Elon Musk serving as a close adviser to the president-elect, with 47% approving and 50% disapproving.
In addition to the Fox News poll, two other polls released on Wednesday shed more light on how Americans perceive the incoming administration and Trump’s handling of the transition process. A CNN poll found that 54% of Americans expect Trump to do a good job as president, and 55% approve of how he is managing the transition. However, a Marist Poll showed that 47% of respondents approved of Trump’s handling of the transition, with 39% disapproving and 14% unsure.
The polls also highlighted a significant partisan divide, with 86% of Republicans approving of Trump’s transition compared to 72% of Democrats who disapproved. Independents were more evenly split, with 43% disapproving and 38% approving.
Despite the overall approval of Trump’s transition process, Marist Institute for Public Opinion Director Lee Miringoff cautioned that fewer voters approve of the transition compared to previous presidents. Trump’s cabinet picks have been meeting with senators on Capitol Hill ahead of confirmation hearings scheduled for next month.
While Trump’s transition has faced some setbacks, including the withdrawal of his first attorney general nominee, the president-elect remains focused on preparing for his second term. Trump recently made an international trip to Paris, where he was courted by world leaders.
As Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20 approaches, the country remains divided on his leadership and the future direction of his administration. It will be interesting to see how Trump’s presidency unfolds in the coming years.
