Bomb threat at New Glasgow hospital prompts investigation

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — New Glasgow Regional Police have charged a Springville woman after they responded to a bomb threat called into the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow on Saturday, Oct. 7 at about 2:20 a.m.

Hospital authorities alerted police after receiving a call from an unidentified woman who claimed there was a bomb inside the hospital. After New Glasgow police officers arrived at the scene, they conducted a thorough search.

No evidence of a suspicious package or device was found. Patients and staff within the hospital were not evacuated.

A New Glasgow Regional Police patrol unit arrested a 42-year-old woman at her home in Springville in connection with the incident.

New Glasgow Regional Police have charged Angela Marie Anderson with:

  • Public mischief
  • Uttering threats
  • Resisting arrest
  • False information

Anderson has been released upon strict conditions and will appear in provincial court in Pictou on Nov. 20, 2023.
