Bourbon Street Hustler’s accomplice faces murder charge in Telemundo reporter case

A second person has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Adan Manzano, a Telemundo sports reporter who was found dead in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana while covering the Super Bowl in early February. The 27-year-old journalist from Kansas City, Missouri was discovered with Xanax in his system at the Comfort Suites hotel, leading officials to conclude that his death was caused by a lethal combination of Xanax and alcohol.

The suspect, 45-year-old Danette Colbert, also known as the “Bourbon Street Hustler” on social media, was arrested two days after Manzano’s body was found. She has a history of fugitive and fraud charges, as well as a robbery charge in connection with the reporter’s death. Along with her alleged accomplice, Rickey White, Colbert now faces a second-degree murder charge in addition to previous charges of simple robbery and fraud.

The Kenner Police Department revealed that White’s upgraded charge comes after a thorough investigation into the events leading up to Manzano’s death. Surveillance footage showed the journalist and Colbert entering his hotel room in the early hours of the morning before she left the premises and he was never seen again. One of Manzano’s credit cards was missing, prompting detectives to track its usage and ultimately leading them to Colbert.

Chief Keith Conley of the Kenner Police Department disclosed that Colbert may be linked to other incidents of drugging and robbery in both New Orleans and Las Vegas. Additionally, authorities suspect she may be involved in another death case in New Orleans from December. Collaborating with the New Orleans Police Department, state police, and the attorney general’s office, law enforcement officials are gathering information to build a comprehensive case against Colbert.
