Canada tables new plans for Grand-Pré National Historic Site

GRAND PRÉ, N.S. — A new management plan to maintain Acadian heritage at Grand-Pré National Historic Site was tabled in Parliament on Dec. 12.
A three-key strategy plan was created as part of a requirement to review historical site management plans every 10 years under the Parks Canada Agency Act.
Updated plans for the site include:
- Focus on building an attractive, world-class level historic site;
- Strengthening the connection Acadian people have to the internationally recognized site as a place of remembrance and learning;
- Increasing collaboration with local communities and Mi’kmaw culture.
Plans were based on public consultation and input from Acadian groups, Mi’kmaw leadership and communities in Nova Scotia, Landscape of Grand-Pré Incorporated and tourism representatives.
The new plan is available online at the Parks Canada website at parks.canada.ca/lhn-nhs/ns/grandpre/info/gestion-management-2023.
