SIRT investigating self-harm incident at Halifax Regional Police facility

HALIFAX, N.S. — Nova Scotia’s police watchdog is investigating a self-harm incident in the Halifax Regional Police cells.
The Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) said Halifax police arrested a man in connection with a possible home invasion on Dec. 13.
The man was later found harming himself after being taken to the prisoner care facility.
The SIRT said the Emergency Health Services were called to take the man to the hospital where he currently remains.
SIRT was later notified by Halifax police and has since launched an investigation.
