Canada’s Kingsbury wins 4th consecutive dual moguls title at world championships

Canadian freestyle skiing sensation Mikael Kingsbury continued his dominance in the sport by capturing his fourth consecutive dual moguls title at the world championships in Corviglia, Switzerland. Hailing from Deux-Montagnes, Quebec, Kingsbury faced off against Japanese rival Ikuma Horishima in the final, ultimately clinching the gold medal. Australian skier Matt Graham secured the bronze in the competition.
Earlier in the week, Horishima had thwarted Kingsbury’s bid for a fourth straight moguls championship title, with the Canadian settling for silver. Despite this setback, Kingsbury has proven to be a force to be reckoned with in the dual moguls discipline, having now reached the podium in seven out of eight world championship events and securing five wins.
On the women’s side, Jessica Linton from North Vancouver, British Columbia, emerged as the top Canadian finisher, placing seventh in the competition. Maia Schwinghammer of Saskatoon, who had claimed bronze in the moguls event earlier in the week, finished in 11th place.
Kingsbury’s stellar performance at the world championships is a testament to his exceptional skills and unwavering determination. The 28-year-old athlete has enjoyed a remarkable World Cup season, clinching three Crystal Globes as the moguls, dual moguls, and overall moguls champion. In a thrilling conclusion to the season, Kingsbury outperformed Horishima in the final World Cup dual moguls event in Livigno, Italy, propelling him to the top of the season standings ahead of his Japanese counterpart.
With a total of nine world championship gold medals to his name, Kingsbury’s remarkable achievements in freestyle skiing have solidified his status as one of the sport’s greatest talents. Fans can look forward to witnessing more extraordinary performances from Kingsbury as he continues to push the boundaries of freestyle skiing and inspire the next generation of athletes.
