SYDNEY, N.S. — When the calendar turns to a brand-new year, thoughts of change enter many people’s minds. Most times it’s with the desire for the year to pan out better than the one before, or at least as good if you had a particularly lucky one.There’s also usually a wish for the world situation to improve, especially for those who are suffering.

I just had surgery on my back, so I am hoping for a speedy recovery. As well I’d like to see the fighting in Ukraine stop.It’s going on too long.
