Canadian Armed Forces advising residents of military training at HRM bases this week

HALIFAX, N.S. — The Canadian Armed Forces in Halifax are advising residents that a security exercise is taking place in the community this week.

From Feb. 5-9., residents near the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Halifax Stadacona, HMC Dockyard and Shearwater might see Canadian Armed Forces members uniformed and carrying weapons that will not have ammunition in them.

The exercises are being done in light of Security Awareness Week, an annual event held in early February for departments to promote and share good security practices and security awareness government-wide.

The Canadian Armed Forces did not disclose the exact dates and times to ensure the exercise would take place effectively.

Members involved in the exercises are highly trained, and safety teams will monitor and control all activities, noted the release.

Additionally, 911 emergency services to the local community will not be affected during the exercise.
