Harvard case judge to block Trump admin’s ban on foreign student enrollment

A federal judge in Boston has announced plans to issue a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration from revoking Harvard University’s certification to host foreign students. This decision comes after Judge Allison D. Burroughs, who was appointed by former President Barack Obama, granted Harvard a temporary restraining order last week. This order prevented the government from revoking the Ivy League school’s certification in the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, which allows the university to host international students with F-1 or J-1 visas to study in the U.S.

During Thursday’s hearing, Judge Burroughs confirmed that the block on the Trump administration would remain in place for the time being. Harvard argued in its lawsuit that the revocation would impact over 7,000 visa holders, which is more than a quarter of its student body.
