Thief makes off with cash, cigarettes in Halifax Petro-Canada robbery

HALIFAX, NS — Police in Halifax are on the hunt for the thief who stole cash and cigarettes from a local gas station on June 25.

Halifax Regional Police said officers were called just before 6:40 a.m. to the robbery in progress at the Petro Canada gas station at 7015 Bayers Road in Halifax

City police said a man approached the store, broke the locked glass door with a blunt object, entered the store and threatened staff while demanding money and cigarettes.

He ran out of the store and fled with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. The clerk was not injured.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s with a tattoo on his upper right cheek, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and of a thin build.

He was last seen wearing blue overalls with reflective stripes, a gray Carhartt sweatshirt and a green reusable bag.
