College football news: Ex-Louisville LB PJ Blue dead at 27

P.J. Blue, a former college football player who played linebacker for the Louisville Cardinals, has tragically passed away at the young age of 27, as announced by the school on Monday.
The Alabama native committed to Louisville in 2016 but faced a setback when he suffered a torn ACL before he could make his collegiate debut. Despite this, Blue showed his talent on the field in 2018, recording 39 tackles in 11 games. Unfortunately, he missed the 2019 season due to another knee injury and was unable to return to play.
“We are saddened by the passing of Cardinal Forever P.J. Blue,” Louisville expressed in a social media post. “Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.”
The cause of Blue’s death has not been disclosed, leaving fans and the football community in mourning. College football enthusiasts took to social media to offer their condolences to Blue’s family.
Blue entered college as a highly touted high school prospect, earning recognition as an Under Armour All-American and U.S. Army All-American nominee after a standout career at Park Cross High School. Louisville’s defensive coordinator at the time, Todd Grantham, spoke highly of Blue, praising his size, speed, and ability to make an impact on the field.
Blue had received scholarship offers from powerhouse programs such as Alabama, Clemson, and Ole Miss, but ultimately chose Louisville to continue his football career.
The passing of P.J. Blue serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his contributions to the game of football will not be forgotten.
Our thoughts are with Blue’s family, friends, and the Louisville Cardinals community during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
