Trump transportation secretary confirmed with bipartisan backing

The Senate confirmed President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Transportation Department on Tuesday afternoon. Former Rep. Sean Duffy of Wisconsin was chosen for the role, and he outlined his priorities for the department during his confirmation hearing earlier this month. These priorities include aviation and highway safety, addressing the air traffic controller shortage, and restoring trust in Boeing following several scandals.

Duffy’s nomination was confirmed by a bipartisan vote of 77 to 22, with the support of two dozen Democratic senators in addition to the entire Republican conference.
