Colombian pop star Shakira hospitalized with abdominal condition
Colombian sensation Shakira has unfortunately had to cancel her highly anticipated concert in Lima due to being hospitalized with an abdominal condition. The news was shared by the singer herself on her Instagram and X accounts, where she revealed that doctors had advised her against performing in her current state.
Expressing her disappointment, Shakira stated, “I am very sad that I will not be able to take the stage today. I have been deeply emotional and excited about reuniting with my beloved Peruvian audience.” The singer had arrived in Peru on Friday and was set to perform on Sunday and Monday as part of her Latin American tour, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.
Fans in Peru had eagerly awaited Shakira’s arrival, with crowds gathering at airports to welcome her. The singer expressed her gratitude on Instagram, saying, “Thank you for such an emotional welcome, Lima!” Despite the setback, Shakira remains hopeful for a speedy recovery and is already working with her team and the promoter to reschedule the concert for a later date.
Shakira’s tour is in support of her latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, where she draws inspiration from her personal experiences, including her highly publicized divorce. The album features the chart-topping hit Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 and recently won Best Latin Pop Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
