Colorado man faces federal charges in Tesla firebombing attack

A man accused of firebombing a Tesla dealership in Colorado is now facing federal charges, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi. Cooper Jo Fredrick, 24, was apprehended in Plano, Texas, for allegedly attacking a Tesla dealership in Loveland, Colorado on March 7.

Bondi issued a stern warning in a video message, stating, “Let this be a warning. You can run, but you cannot hide. Justice is coming.” The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has taken action by launching a task force to crack down on violent attacks against Tesla properties and mitigate potential threats.

Fredrick, a Fort Collins resident, reportedly ignited an incendiary device and threw it at the dealership, narrowly missing parked vehicles. The device caused a fire when it landed between two cars, resulting in damage to the building and several vehicles. Luckily, quick intervention from a police officer at the scene prevented any injuries to individuals present at the dealership.

Federal prosecutors are seeking a 20-year prison sentence for Fredrick, in addition to local charges of second-degree arson and possession of explosives or incendiary devices. He is one of several suspects implicated in recent attacks on Tesla dealerships and factories, which seem to be targeted at Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his ties to the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Another individual, Lucy Grace Nelson, also known as Justin Thomas Nelson, is facing charges related to a separate incident at the same Loveland dealership on February 27. The string of attacks has prompted a vigorous response from law enforcement, with the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) collaborating on a task force to coordinate investigative efforts.

The FBI’s initiative aims to address the escalating violence against Tesla properties and ensure public safety. Bondi emphasized that perpetrators of domestic terrorism targeting Tesla will be apprehended, arrested, and prosecuted without negotiation. The coordinated efforts between federal and local authorities signal a robust response to safeguard against future attacks on Tesla facilities.

The incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of maintaining security measures and vigilance to protect against acts of violence targeting businesses and individuals. Public safety remains a top priority as law enforcement agencies work to identify and hold accountable those responsible for threatening the well-being of communities and businesses.
