Monica Wright Rogers Joins Toronto’s WNBA Expansion Team, Tempo

Monica Wright Rogers made her debut in front of the Toronto media on Thursday as the newly appointed general manager of the WNBA’s Tempo. The Tempo, Canada’s first team in the league, is set to kick off its inaugural season next year.

Wright Rogers will spearhead all basketball operations for the Tempo, including the crucial tasks of hiring a head coach and assembling a competitive roster for the upcoming season. With a WNBA championship under her belt, collegiate All-American honors, and a wealth of experience in basketball management, Rogers comes to the Tempo from her previous role as assistant GM of the Phoenix Mercury.

Tempo president Teresa Resch praised Rogers’ unique blend of skills and experience, stating, “The unique combination of experience that Monica will bring to this team is incredible. She’s a proven champion who understands the game from so many different perspectives. And she’s so much more than the collection of her experiences. Monica is an incredible relationship-builder with a sharp eye for talent who embodies everything we want the Tempo to stand for: she’s warm, welcoming, smart, driven, and fiercely competitive. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board.”
