Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev found himself in hot water at the US Open this week, as he was fined a total of US $42,500 for his behavior during a first-round match.
During the match, a photographer entered the court, causing a delay and leading to Medvedev’s outburst. Tournament Referee Jake Garner docked Medvedev US $30,000 for unsporting behavior and an additional US $12,500 for racquet abuse.

The incident occurred while Medvedev was trailing in the third set, and the photographer was on the court during a crucial point. Medvedev’s frustrations boiled over, leading to a confrontation with the official and disruptions in the match.
Despite rallying to win the set, Medvedev ultimately fell to his opponent Benjamin Bonzi in a five-set thriller, marking his third consecutive first-round exit at a Grand Slam tournament.
